Camping is a great way to get some exercise and fresh air. My husband and I went camping many times a year when we were first married. It was fun to get away from the neighbourhood on weekends since we lived in a duplex. And because camping was so much cheaper than staying at a hotel, it fit our budget. The worse part about camping for me was sleeping on the ground. As our camping mattress in the tent, we used the floating air mattresses that we used in the lake. The sleeping bags kept slipping off and the mattress was noisy each time we shifted even just a little. We decided we should spend some money for a good camping mattress if we were going to continue to camp. Very good camping mattress was out of our price range at that time. We ended up buying thick foam from a fabric store and used this as our camping mattress. It was better than sleeping on the ground, but it was bulky to bring along and to store when we were not using it. We stopped camping for several years, but we have lately started to take an interest in it again. I said to my husband that a camping mattress is the first thing we needed to get. We started looking at what is on the market these days and found that there are many choices for a camping mattress. There is the inflatable camping mattress that looks like being a small step above the floating air mattress that we had tried earlier. There is a campingmattress that is self inflating. Once it has inflated itself you close the valve. To deflate, you open the valve and press down on the camping mattress. This seemed simply to set up and not hard to store, but it was not very thick, so we questioned the comfort level. We also considered a different camping mattress that was inflatable with a separate pump. This particular campingmattress came in many sizes. The inflation time is around five minutes. The pump had batteries that are rechargeable, so you may bring it to the camp site already charged and then plug it in when you return home. This seemed like a nice reasonably priced option for a camping mattress, but it did not come with any possible way to store it. The camping mattress that we finally bought is a double size mattress that is equipped with a built in pump. The camping mattress inflates in about a minute and deflates flat in even less time. The mattress and pump can be stored into a duffle case that is the size of a sleeping bag. This camping mattress is more expensive, but we can also utilize it as an extra bed on the situations when we have more visitors than bed space. With our new camping mattress we will be camping and sleeping in comfort. It is crucial to have a good night sleep with a good mattress while camping to be fresh and ready to go in the morning.
